Client Book Launch: THE PONTCOURT MURDERS Available Now!

I am thrilled to announce my client Phillip Wray just launched his debut novel, THE PONTCOURT MURDERS!

Wary’s love affair with France began while studying abroad there as an undergraduate. Smitten by the country’s rich history and literature, he was particularly drawn to the writing style of Alexandre Dumas. In his new book, THE PONTCOURT MURDERS, Wray honors the style of the celebrated French author. “Writing this novel was the perfect opportunity to combine my love of France with my love for historical mysteries,” Wray says.

In the novel, Musketeer cadet Charles de la Forêt has been assigned his first mission: travel to a small French town far outside of Paris and retrieve a prisoner accused of killing an entire family. Arriving in Pontcourt, Charles finds the villagers ready to take justice into their own hands. Mob rule threatens to prevail over the King’s law, and, worse yet, Charles discovers the locals may be seeking vengeance against an innocent man. Compelled to investigate the truth behind the murders, Charles explores the complex and dark side of rural French life in the 17th century. With little more than his wit and rapier to rely on, the musketeer cadet must solve the mystery of the Pontcourt massacre before more innocent life is lost.

Inspired by historical events, Wray considers the effects of family obligations and expectations during the Ancien Régime. “I wanted to explore how the fear of disappointing one’s father is a strong motivator,” Wray says. “And how that fear of failure can push a young man to succeed by any means necessary.”
